ABOUT ME
/ About me/
My name is Monika Chrapczyńska, I am a graduate student of engineering studies majoring in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Krakow University of Technology. Today, I continue my education on masters degree in Architecture in the English.
Throughout the time I have spent at the university, I have gained knowledge in the fields of architecture, urban design, computer graphics and design. Because architecture is my passion, I decided to expand my horizons by participating in several international workshops and conferences. While architecture became my passion, I decided to widen my knowledge by taking part in various international conferences and workshops. Teamwork, cooperation and leadership, which I have learnt from them, have an significant impact on my architectural evaluation. However valuable the knowledge I gained at the university is, to get ready to work in a professional office, a deeper insight into activities of architectural studios is essential. Therefore, the practical placement is of great importance to me.
Spending every spare moment on reviewing recent projects, getting engaed in many conferences and workshops, as well as working with interesting people, inspired me to create their own projects. Putting al my heart into sketching my ideas, I had the ability to define myself, and my plans on being a part of the architectural world. During the last year, I have engaged in scientific research projects in the field of architecture that allowed me to expand my knowledge of various areas of my interest.
For many years I was a member of the national team Latin Dance Formation. Cooperation and the awareness of responsibility for my team, had a great influence on my approach to working in a team. Having to divide my time between the university and everyday training, I had to learn good time management., that I use on university, at work and in everyday life. During my starts in the national team, I was repeatedly exposed to stressful situations, both during the training and the competitions. However difficult such situations were, today I owe them the ability to cope with stress.
At the university apart from classes, I am an active member of the student non-profit organization IAESTE, where I had a chance to try myself in different fiels. Although they are not directly related to my profession, can pay off in work. Within 2 years I spent in the organization, I was a member of various teams, a local manager of HR, the National Manager of Recruitment process, as well as, Global Graphics Manager.
For more than four years, I was prepared to work both as an individual and among the people, so I feel confident both in tasks that require independence and concentration, as well as working as a team member. Moreover, I am open and charismatic person, with big creativity and sense of humor. In addition, I believe that the ability to quickly adapt to work together, regardless the differences of character among colleagues is a basis for building an effective team.
My work has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, I am a scholar of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements in sciece and art.

demographic situation, which forces the local authorities make the decision about adapting old buildings to the changing number of children. The problem concerned the location of preschoolers in the school building, which generally does not enjoy a good reputation. The project was based on observations, meetings with children, youth, school officials and kindergartens, interviews with parents and study spatial situation. The result was a project tailored to the needs of both groups, drawing attention to the issue of sustainable design, not only in terms of architecture, and also social. We decided to use probably shocking, surprising means of expression, so that this project for a long time remained in the memory of participants of the closing conference. The project was presented at international conference and has been widely discussed.

Judges opinion: Emerging Designers Honorable Mention AQUA-ESTATE Poland The judges felt that this entry was innovative in its form and technicality, and that this speculative technology can contribute to a greater social benefit. The judges also appreciated its use of biomimicry in its self-assembly response to the Next Big One, as demonstrated in its very successful and well-conveyed video presentation. While the judges commended the entry for its originality, they felt it lacked practicality as individual dwellings, but could envisage its application in an alternate, communal use.
